An Elmont man will serve prison time after he admitted to bribing restaurant owners.
William Mendez will spend 1 1/3 to 4 years behind bars. The 50-year-old pleaded guilty to multiple charges in March.
Prosecutors say Mendez threatened business owners for former Hempstead Village trustee Perry Pettus, who threatened to shut them down if they refused.
Pettus was sentenced last year.
