Elmont man sentenced to 25 years for 2019 Hempstead shooting
An Elmont man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for
a 2019 shooting in Hempstead.
Earlier this year, 26-year-old Floyd McNeil was convicted
following a jury trial for multiple charges, including attempted murder and
assault.
Prosecutors
say McNeil shot 28-year-old Malachi Blaylock four times in the back.
When the victim tried to run, McNeil followed him and
continued to fire shots.
McNeil then took off in an Uber and was arrested days
later.
The
shooting left Baylock seriously injured.
As News 12
has reported, McNeil is also facing charges for a 2020 shooting that killed a
21-year-old in Freeport.
