Anyone looking to cool down today won’t be able to in the waters off some North Shore beaches.
Health officials say Monday’s heavy rainfall created elevated bacteria. Laurel Hollow Beach and North Hempstead Beach Park will be closed for bathing.
The Nassau County Department of Health says the advisory will be lifted Wednesday at 6 a.m. – bacterial level permitting.
The Suffolk County Department of Health issued advisories against bathing at 63 beaches.
