Electrical fire leads to dangerous levels of carbon monoxide at Nassau Staples

Fire crews responded to an electrical fire in Nassau County Wednesday evening.

The blaze broke out at the Staples store on Long Beach Road in Oceanside around 5 p.m.

Fire officials tell News 12 the flames caused a significant smoke condition and dangerous levels of carbon monoxide throughout the large commercial establishment.

Oceanside Fire Department was the host agency with members of the East Rockaway department called in for mutual aid.

Firefighters operated on the roof and used multiple ventilation fans to clear the business.

Crew worked to get the scene under control in about two hours.

There were no injuries reported.
