The decomposed body of a 92-year-old woman was found inside her Sag Harbor home Friday afternoon, along with signs of a small fire, police say.
According to the victim?s neighbor, Ray Redhead, the elderly woman lived alone in her old house on Terry Drive and was known in the community for her eccentric behavior, which included walking in front of cars and aimlessly wandering the streets.
?She never spoke to anyone,? Redhead says. ?If you spoke to her, she would give you obscene gestures.?
Suffolk police say the woman, whose name has yet to be released, was last seen in August. Her body was so severely decayed that an autopsy has to be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The Suffolk County Arson Squad was called to the woman?s home to investigate the cause of the fire.
