A Woodmere man says he is one of about 80 full-time violin makers in the United States.
Ed Maday, 57, told News 12 that he has been making violins, violas, cellos and other stringed instruments since he was 15 years old. He says his father had a woodshop in their home where he made his first instrument.
He now makes instruments from aged wood in his own home.
He says he has made over 350 instruments during his tenure as a musical craftsman.
Prices for Maday's instruments start at around $15,000 for a violin and go up to about $30,000 for larger instruments.
