Despite places in our area finally reopening, our economic recovery seems to be slowing, as coronavirus cases surge in other parts of the country.
In fact, United Airlines is warning that nearly half of its workforce could be furloughed this fall. United is just one of many airlines to be hit hard by the pandemic. Right now, the airline is operating about a quarter of its flights compared to last year.
This morning, the Labor Department reported that more than 1.3 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week.
News 12's Elizabeth Hashagen was joined by economic adviser Marty Cantor to discuss the unemployment situation across the nation.
