A rare mosquito-borne disease is again detected in a sample taken in Suffolk County.
The sample taken in Manorville last week tested positive for eastern equine encephalitis. It is the seventh sample this season that tested positive for the virus.
No human cases of the virus have been reported so far. It can be transmitted to humans via an infected mosquito.
Although the virus is rare, it can be deadly in humans.
