An East Meadow man who was involved in a fatal accident that killed three people on the Southern State Parkway last year was sentenced to six months time served and five years probation Wednesday.
The judge made it clear that Jose Chavez was only charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and was not charged with causing the accident in June 2005. Chavez?s lawyer says his client panicked at the accident when he heard people were killed.
The three people that died were from two different families. One of the families gave their blessing at the sentence, the other family did not want to be involved.
