The town of East Meadow is coming together to put a stop to the vandalism in their community.

The walls of businesses and vacant buildings on East Meadow and Stuyvesant avenues are just a few of the areas covered with graffiti.

Nassau County and the Town of Hempstead are handing out fliers and bumper stickers to residents, setting up cameras in problem areas and offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest of those responsible for the graffiti.

Officials say that graffiti may not be as bad as it was back in the 80s and 90s, but they want to stop it before it gets any worse.

"One building is one too many and we want to make sure we stop it before it becomes an epidemic," said Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray.
