Bar and restaurant owners in East Hampton are calling on town officials to overturn an unenforced law banning live music in their establishments.

Stephanie Daigle, who owns the Fiddler's Cove restaurant and tavern, says no one has ever complained about the live music that has been offered there since the 1950s. She says she wants the law changed because she is not disturbing the peace or bothering anyone.

Councilwoman Debra Brodie Foster says she is trying to initiate a permitting system that clearly spells out who can have music. However, she says many on the council feel it is better to leave the current law on the books and just not enforce it.
