A Garden City student was one of two Duke University lacrosse players arrested Tuesday in connection with a rape scandal.
The arrests of Collin Finnerty and his teammate, Reade Seligmann of New Jersey, come a little more than a month after a stripper told police she was raped at a team party. Jail officials say both 20-year-old men were charged with rape, sexual offense and kidnapping. Seligmann has already posted a $400,000 bond. Finnerty made a brief court appearance and later posted bail.
Meanwhile, the school has already canceled the team?s season and accepted the resignation of the coach. Defense attorneys have urged the district attorney to drop the case, saying DNA tests failed to connect any of the 46 team members to the alleged victim.
Both men are due back in court on May 15.
