The Long Island Ducks are working with several other independent baseball clubs on finalizing a 70-game schedule that would begin in mid-July and include a championship series.
Under the plan, the Ducks could play teams not in the Atlantic League. Ducks general manager Mike Pfaff says the Ducks and other teams are looking to create a league with six to eight teams. It would be made up of teams from New York and other mid-Atlantic states.
They hope to have the plan finalized by next week.
"We have been working very hard on creative solutions to make sure the ball park gets maximum use this year," says Pfaff.
