Some Long Islanders got a big surprise at the pump Wednesday night.The Shell gas station on Jackson Avenue in Syosset accidentally charged customers $1 a gallon for gas. According to the owner, the mistake was due a computer glitch and cost him thousands.Drivers that heard about the mistake lined up to try to take advantage of the price. Some waited as long as an hour to try to fill up before the price was switched back.One Long Islander said he thinks gas stations should have computer glitches once a week due to rising gas prices.
