The state's Department of Transportation is trying a new automated work zone speed enforcement program after legislation the governor signed in 2021.
It's a five-year program to keep highways safer by slowing drivers down in work zones, where there were more than 50 injuries in 2021.
The system uses radar to determine whether a car is speeding.
After an initial warning period, drivers could face a $50 fine for their first violation. The second violation is a $75 fine if within an 18-month period of the first violation. The third and subsequent violations are a $100 fine if within an 18-month period of the first violation.
The enforcement areas rotate, but this is the list the DOT has released for the week of Thanksgiving.
