Southold Town Police say the driver of a truck that was hit by a Long Island Rail Road train on the North Fork Tuesday died from his injuries.
Officials have identified the driver as Frank McBride, 35, of Mattituck.
According to police, McBride drove around a lowered crossing gate. The collision at the Elijah's Lane crossing occurred just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The train was heading west from Greenport to Ronkonkoma.
No one on the train was hurt.
A few trains were canceled as a result of the incident.
