A Spring Valley man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a fatal drunk driving crash in the village.

The crash happened last June on Old Nyack Turnpike.

Police say 42‑year‑old Axel Lopez‑Santiago was speeding when he went off the roadway and onto a sidewalk.

A 4‑year‑old girl was killed. Police say two other victims suffered serious physical injuries.

Police say Lopez‑Santiago had been drinking before the crash.
