Police say a man fleeing a hit-and-run crash in East Farmingdale drove his vehicle into a Panera Bread restaurant, injuring two people inside as well as himself and his passenger.

The incident occurred on Broad Hollow Road at around 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

Police say Jerome Arnold, 69, crashed his 2005 Nissan Pathfinder into a green SUV in a neighboring parking lot and kept on driving. A witness told News 12 that he then lost control, hit another car and plowed into the restaurant.

Authorities say Ragen Ryan, 34, of Massapequa, was pinned under the SUV. Ryan was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and is listed in serious condition with multiple fractures.

Marianne Turndahl, 37, of Rockville Centre was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. She is in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle and his female passenger were taken to NUMC for minor injuries.

Arnold was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated unlicensed operator third degree for driving with a license that has been suspended since 1996. 

Arnold was arraigned Friday morning. He is due back in court April 2.
