Long Islanders came together to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day today.

The Law Enforcement Alliance gathered yesterday in Uniondale and is calling for people to put fighting and violence aside in honor of the civil rights leader.

Today is a federal holiday, which means banks, post offices, schools, government offices and the stock market were closed.

The Long Island Rail Road was running on a holiday schedule.
