Police say a Patchogue doctor was writing prescriptions to a patient to fuel his own drug habit.

Dr. Hitesh Narain, an OB-GYN, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment today to conspiracy in the fourth degree.

Prosecutors say Dr. Narain wrote a prescription to a patient for 180 Oxycodone pills and paid the patient $500 to fill it and return the pills to him.

Narain was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on Aug. 19.

District Attorney Thomas Spota said the investigation is ongoing.
