Dozens of brave members of the St. James Polar Bear Club took an icy dive into the waters of the Long Island Sound today for a good cause.
The members hopped into the water at Long Beach in Nissequogue.
The organization, founded three years ago by Reza Kolahifar, raises money to fight childhood diabetes.
"I got to say [we] probably raised over $5,000 for the Children's Diabetes Foundation," says Kolahifar.
Many who took the plunge say that while it was incredibly cold, it was all worth it.
