Dozens come together for Relay for Life in Wantagh
About 100 people braved the cold Sunday to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life fundraiser was spearheaded by a group of high school students from Wantagh.
Attendees walked around the track at Wantagh High School in memory of those who died from cancer and those who are still surviving.
Members of the school's Key Club said they were inspired by a survivor - teacher Kathy Delgais Butler - who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017.
After 20 weeks of chemotherapy and a double mastectomy, she came back to the school as a survivor.  She says the love and support she received from her students and the Wantagh community were part of her healing.

The Wantagh High School Key Club hopes to raise $20,000 from the event. The money will go to the American Cancer Society.
