A facility in Hicksville concentrates on what can be done to make the lives of pets and their owners more enjoyable together.
Dog owners have for the past two years been coming to the Dogability Center to get a better understanding of how to handle and train their pets.
"We bring joy and comfort and recreation and education to our local community," says program director Vicky Rogers. "We work with people with special needs and anybody who gains comfort from being around a dog."
Founder and executive director Sass Levin, a self-proclaimed "idea maniac," wants to give people the opportunity to interact with different types of dogs and show them the differences between breeds.
Each volunteer at Dogability uses their own dog for demonstrations and training. Clicker training is also used to show animals how to perform tricks.
Dogability says it is always looking for volunteers to help with training.
