A Central Islip woman met four half-sisters for the first time Friday thanks to some digging on the internet. 

Karen Gaulrapp, 71, knew her biological mother had given her up for adoption in 1946. In December, she took a DNA test through Ancestry.com. 

She found out she's British and Irish. She also found out a lot more. 

"I get a text from someone that said, 'I think I'm your sister,'" Gaulrapp told News 12. 

Soon after, she learned there were three more.

On Friday, the four women met for the first time in Bay Shore. They chose to share the emotional moment with News 12. 

Becky Hostetter, of Indiana, and her sisters say they had been looking for their missing sister for 40 years. It wasn't until March when they were together to mark the anniversary of their mother's death that they got an alert from Ancestry.com. They had found their sister, Karen. 

"It's amazing, we tried for a long time," says Hostetter. 
 
The four sisters drove from Virginia and Indiana just to have lunch with Karen. In addition to the hugs and tears, there were a lot of jokes about the Long Island traffic.
