A pool in Dix Hills will be closed today due to concerns over the coronavirus.
One of the pool's lifeguards tested "faint positive," according to the Town of Huntington Parks and Recreation.
Dr. Chid Iloabachie, the associate chair of Emergency Medicine at LIJ Valley Stream Hospital, says the rapid antigen testing is quicker to complete but is not nearly as sensitive as the PCR or polymerase chain reaction testing.
He says the results could mean he does have the virus, but it is not replicating enough to pick up a large sample, or that the sample was not collected correctly.
Officials say the lifeguard last worked at the pool on Wednesday. They say the employee passes daily temperature screening and wore a mask while on the job.
The individual was tested a second time and is awaiting results.
Staff members are being asked to self-isolate until those results come back out of an abundance of caution.
The town says they will be providing additional sanitation as the pool remains closed.
