District: Farmingdale H.S. lockout issued over person near campus carrying unidentified weapon

Law enforcement was able to locate the individuals in question and identify the item of concern as a "gel gun."

Farmingdale High School went into lockout mode Friday afternoon after a resident observed what appeared to be a person carrying an unidentified weapon, the district said in a statement.
The incident took place off district property but in close proximity to the school. The resident contacted the police, who then contacted the school administration.
District security and safety protocols were followed, and the high school was placed on a lockout around 12:20 p.m.
Law enforcement arrived to the scene and was able to locate the individuals in question and identify the item of concern as a "gel gun."
The district said in their statement that "at no time were any students, staff or visitors in Farmingdale High School in harm's way."
The lockout ended around 12:50 p.m. after an "all-clear" by law enforcement.
