A Southampton Town police officer accused of dropping charges for sexual favors pleaded not guilty Wednesday.
Officer Guy Giammetteo, 32, was indicted on 14 counts of bribe receiving, coercion and official misconduct in Suffolk County court. Prosecutors claim Giammetteo made deals with four women, including one case where he allegedly tipped off a female nightclub owner about a drug investigation. Giammetteo was released on $10,000 bond.
Defense attorney William Keahon claims his client's brother-in-law, Danny Pelosi, made up the allegations from prison. Keahon says the move is motivated by revenge because Giammetteo's wife testified for the prosecution in Pelosi's murder trial. Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says Keahon's theory is a fantasy.
