Travelers scrambled to make alternate plans after several major airlines canceled flights last minute on Christmas Eve.
News 12's Jonathan Gordon was at the Westchester County Airport in White Plains to report on how travelers there were managing.
Flying for the holidays is stressful enough, but Delta, United, and a few others found a way to make it a little worse.
The cancellation of hundreds of flights on Christmas Eve was blamed on the recent surge in COVID-19 cases leaving them short-staffed.
Westchester resident Angela Campoverde has already dealt with flight trouble this week.
"I was supposed to fly yesterday but they changed it to today, and I was afraid they were going to cancel today but they didn't so we're good," Campoverde says.
Others aren't so lucky.
Two Delta flights, one from Atlanta to Westchester and vice versa, along with a Jet Blue to Fort Myers were canceled on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
More than six million Americans are expected to fly for the holidays, according to AAA. That's about three times what it was in 2020.
Through it all, Wallkill resident Jazmyne Melendez is still feeling that holiday cheer.
Melendez says they are just spending it with the family and having fun.
Some overnight snow delayed even more flights Friday.
All airlines say they are working to rebook as many people as possible and get them home for the holidays on time.
