Police say they have caught the man responsible for attacking a Deer Park man and leaving him for dead on his front lawn.
Nicholas Romanello, 40, was found beaten and stabbed on his West 9th Street lawn Friday evening. However, it didn?t take police long to make an arrest. Cops say that information from Romanello?s neighbors led them to the suspect?a man who lives on Park Avenue, right around the corner from Romanello.
?Neighbors were aware of the altercation on the front lawn,? Detective Lt. Gerard Pelkofsky says. ?Through interviews, we were able to determine who the other party was.?
Police have charged Anthony Sedita, 37, with second-degree attempted murder. Neighbor Donna Tenaglia says there were no noticeable signs of trouble between Sedita and Romanello. ?Something must have transpired between the two of them ? that?s out of character for [Sedita],? she says.
Romanello underwent emergency surgery at Stony Brook University Medical Center. He is in stable condition.
No one answered the door at Sedita?s house, and police won?t say what the motive was. Sedita is being held overnight. He will be arraigned Monday.
