(10/16/07) HUUNTINGTON (AP) - A Deer Park, Long Island man is being charged for a stock fraud scheme that resulted in a loss of almost $100,000 to the Bank of America Investment Services company.
Suffolk County police say 44-year-old Noor Mohammed opened a self-directed brokerage account with Bank of America in July of 2007. In September of 2007, he was approved for options trading and deposited a check for $95,000 in the account to cover his trading activity. By the middle of September, Mohammed had conducted option trading that lost his entire $95,000 and another $4,000. Police say it was discovered that the original check was drawn on non-sufficient funds from Mohammed's business account at Desh Development Incorporated in Jackson Heights, Queens. Mohammed was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of grand larceny. Police say they are also looking into charges of identity theft.
