FORECAST: The weather was rather pleasant this afternoon. Mainly sunny skies allowed temperatures to warm to the low 40s after waking up with breezy and cold conditions that felt even colder because of that pesky wind.
Skies will remain clear tonight. A huge push of dry milder air will continue to influence the forecast thru the overnight hours and into tomorrow. Nighttime lows will once again be above their seasonable norms by 5 to 10 degrees.
Tuesday looks to be even nicer if you believe the guidance at face value. Mainly sunny for most of the day. A favorable wind from the Carolina's might allow for the afternoon temperatures to rise to the upper 40s. Right around sunset you'll notice some clouds beginning to collect, but overall looks like a wonderful January afternoon.
There has been A LOT of chatter on the socials about a a possible coastal storm that would affect the region with measurable snow. Posting long range weather maps, especially snow maps, in my opinion, is very irresponsible of degreed meteorologists. The weather weenie, arm-chair weatherperson posting for clicks and likes is an undesirable part of the industry, but when I see fellow meteorologists posting with NO context for the average audience member, well that really burns my britches. So with all that said... that "snow" system that was "likely" to pummel the area with measurable snow... isn't happening. The weather features that would be needed for that snowy scenario are not coming together properly. We are going to be left with scattered rain showers late Wednesday into early Thursday morning. There might be a very brief changeover from sprinkles to flurries, but even that scenario doesn't look promising. Just be prepared for some damp conditions towards the end of the day Wednesday into the wee hours of Thursday morning. The bigger story will be the increasing winds and the cold that will once again drop into our New Jersey laps for the end of the week into the weekend.
