Illegal immigrants across Long Island are anxiously awaiting the decision in Congress regarding the fate of their citizenship.
The Senate is in favor of a guest worker program, while the House is not. Congressman Peter King (R-Seaford) says it will not be helpful to offer amnesty to illegal aliens. Many immigrants say the waiting game is very stressful. They say they want to stay in the U.S. with their families and work.
However, there are some immigrant advocate groups that hope the bill is not passed. Carlos Canales, of the Work Place Project, says the bill will divide people and will not help immigrants.
