Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini says authorities arrested an Amityville man who had the largest collection of child pornography in Suffolk County history.
Sini unsealed a 200-count indictment against 58-year-old David Johnson, of Amityville. Johnson lives on Ketcham Avenue and his house is near Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School, but Sini says there is no evidence that Johnson produced child pornography or met with children.
Sini said at a news conference that Johnson had 6.6 million images and videos of child pornography. DA Sini says Johnson organized his stash of child pornography - by gender, by race, by age and by other characteristics, such as if a victim was wearing glasses.
“This is obviously a sick individual,” said Sini. “That’s why we are treating this with the utmost severity.”
Sini says Johnson stored the images he downloaded and traded on the dark web on 24 different laptops, hard drives and other storage media.
Johnson is being held on $75,000 bond and faces up to 20 years in prison, if found guilty. Suffolk prosecutors say Johnson could also face federal child pornography charges.
