The Nassau County District Attorney?s Office auctioned off items Tuesday that were purchased by disgraced Roslyn school officials.
Some of the auctioned items included gold and diamond jewelry, a Rolex watch and thousands of dollars worth of art. All items were seized from former school officials such as Business Clerk Debra Rigano and Assistant Superintendent Pamela Gluckin. Rigano and Gluckin, along with others, were involved in 2004?s $11 million spending scandal.
Roslyn civic leader Judi Winters, present at the auction, says it still pains her that so much money was taken from taxpayers.
The district attorney?s office says all the money from the items related to the scandal will go back to the Roslyn School District. District Attorney Kathleen Rice says the former school officials will pay every cent back to the district.
