A new report released by a transportation advocacy group rates the D train and No. 6 train on opposite ends of the cleanliness spectrum.
The Straphangers Campaign releases a yearly report, called the Shmutz Report, that details the cleanest and dirtiest trains in the transit system. In its 2009 report, the No. 6 train was rated the filthiest in the Bronx while the D train was rated the cleanest.
The Straphangers Campaign says it sent out inspectors to 100 train cars on each of the city's 22 subway lines to rate the cleanliness of seats and floors.
