The man who some have implicated as the real killer of Arlene and Seymour Tankleff says he wants to clear his name in light of Martin Tankleff?s release from prison.
Several witnesses during Tankleff?s trial pointed to Joseph Creedon as being involved in the murders. Some who took the stand even testified Creedon confessed his guilt.
Creedon?s attorney, Anthony LaPinta, told News 12 Long Island that his client has nothing to hide. LaPinta says if a special prosecutor is appointed to investigate the crime, it would be fine with Creedon.
LaPinta says every witness who has implicated Creedon is not credible and may have ulterior motives. One such witness is Karlene Kovacs, an acquaintance of Creedon?s who says she heard him say he was present at the time of the murders.
Creedon denies saying anything about being involved in the killings, LaPinta says.
Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota will ask a judge to formally drop all charges against Tankleff Jan. 18. Spota will also ask for a special investigator to be appointed to look back at the case.
