A New Hyde Park man accused of driving drunk and seriously injuring a police officer on New Year’s Day in 2018 has had his conviction overturned.
Keith Dillon, a Coast Guard veteran, pleaded guilty in 2019 in a plea deal that sent him to prison for six to 12 years.
In June, a Brooklyn appellate court reversed the conviction and threw out Dillon’s plea.
The conviction was thrown out after the court ruled that Dillon was not told during his plea deal that he would also have to serve a term of post-release supervision.
The case will be retried in Nassau County.
