A state appellate court is ordering Shinnecock Nation billboards on Sunrise Highway to be shut down.
The panel of judges says an injunction blocking construction on the billboards was wrongly denied in 2019.
As News 12 has reported, work on the first billboard wrapped up the same year after the state’s stop-work orders were ignored.
The tribe argued that it is an independent, federally recognized nation and didn’t have to follow state or local zoning laws.
