An elderly couple perished after a fire swept through their Cedarhurst home Saturday.
Fire officials say the home was filled to the ceiling with papers and debris that prevented them from getting inside quickly. Officials say Linda Fleischmann's body was found in an upstairs bedroom and her husband Robert?s body was recovered by a staircase.
Some neighbors say they never knew the couple, however, they couldn't forget often seeing a mountain of debris littering the front porch. Residents say the postman refused to deliver the couple?s mail due to all the clutter.
The couple lived in the home for 40 years and have four grown children. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
