Less than a week after a major snowstorm, officials are hunkering down once again for a storm set to touch down on Super Bowl Sunday.
Officials say they have enough supplies on hand for the next three storms expected this week on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. There are 13,000 tons of salt to treat the 1,500 miles that make up Nassau. More than 80 crews will be going out to clean up the streets.
However, Nassau DPW officials say they may not have full staffing because of COVID-19.
As News 12 reported earlier this week, Brookhaven's highway superintendent came under fire by residents for not getting all of the streets plowed 24 hours after the storm ended.
Curran says she's addressing the issue by pushing the state to include DPW workers for immediate vaccine eligibility.
In Huntington, they have the salt sand and trucks ready to go - but officials say they're a little shorthanded because of the pandemic.
DPW says it's looking for additional crews from beyond the county to make up for losses from the pandemic.
