County Executive Steve Bellone gives update on COVID-19 in Suffolk
 
County Executive Steve Bellone gave an update Sunday on the response to COVID-19 in Suffolk County.
BRIEFING NOTES:
-Suffolk is up to around 42,000 cases total, including positive antibody tests. The total county death toll is at 1,617, Bellone says.
-Hot spot testing sites are seeing a 37% infection rate, which has come down since the beginning but has held steady recently. That's higher than the overall country rate of just about 32%.
-On antibody tests performed on law enforcement and first responders -- so far 1,752 have been tested. Of the results that have come back so far, mostly from the county police department, 65 positive test results have come back, for a rate of under 6%.
-The county executive took a moment to wish a happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, who he notes are shouldering a special burden during the crisis.
