The birth of baby Savanah Lee at Good Samaritan Hospital over the weekend means the Hernandez family, of Coram, is now a full dozen.
Dawn and Joseph Hernandez say when they were first married they decided not to have children. They soon changed their minds.
“He kept asking me, ‘Would you like to have another, and another, and another’ and I said, ‘Yes, it would be nice to have a large family,’” says Dawn Hernandez.
Dr. Joseph Livoti, of Good Samaritan Hospital, delivered all 10 of their children into the world.
“I remember every one of them,” says Dr. Livoti. “Some were more exciting than others.”
Their oldest child is 15. Both parents have full-time jobs but say taking care of the kids is easier than it looks.
“I can watch all 10 kids by myself,” says Joseph Hernandez.
The couple does say they are thankful for all the help they get from family and friends. Everyone on “Team Hernandez” is on the ball, pitching in and caring for each other.
When asked if they are considering an 11th child, the couple said “we’ll see whatever God brings us.”
Dawn and Joseph Hernandez say they have already started a college savings account for each child, including little Savanah Lee.
