Suffolk police are searching for a driver involved in a Copiague drag race that led to the death of a 21-year-old man.
Police say Kamilo Dabiowski and another driver were racing along Oak Street Jan. 4 when Dabiowski lost control of his car and smashed into a concrete pillar. Authorities say the other driver didn?t stop, and they are now calling for him or her to come forward.
A makeshift memorial marks the spot where Dabiowski?s car crashed.
Det. Lt. Gerard V. Pelkofsky says it?s important to find the other driver so Dabiowski?s family and police can find out exactly what happened before the crash occurred.
Suffolk police are asking anyone with information about the race to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. They say the caller will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
