A Roosevelt woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly leaving two small children home alone.
Amirah Aalaam, 28, a mother of five, is accused of leaving her 6-year-old and 1-year-old children at home without supervision. The kids were discovered by their grandfather, who happened to come by. When their grandfather noticed Aalaam wasn't home, he called police.
Police left a note on the door for Aalaam that informed her officers had taken custody of the children. Investigators said there is no indication of injury, but note if their grandfather hadn't stopped in, they could have been left there for several hours.
Aalaam was previously convicted of identity theft, and is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with this incident.
