Investigators returned to the scene of the crime in Roslyn Heights Friday, two weeks after a prominent doctor was killed crossing the street.
On July 6, a hit-and-run driver on Mineola Avenue killed Dr. Jeffrey Siegel, a 48-year-old father of three. Police have recovered the gold Honda Accord and know the identity of its owner. However, the car's owner is female and witnesses told investigators the driver was male, police said. The owner of the car has not been cooperative, police said.
Authorities started passing out fliers on Mineola Avenue at 8 p.m., hoping that individuals who routinely pass by on Friday evenings can help them find the driver.
Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. A reward is being offered, and callers can remain anonymous, police said.
