A mother and daughter from North Merrick are both facing charges for allegedly selling heroin.
Police say 51-year-old Denise Burke and 18-year-old Danielle Burke sold heroin to a third person on Merrick Road.
Neighbors in the community called their home in North Merrick a "drug den." Police say they had been called there at least 20 times over the past seven years.
The arrests were part of the Long Island Heroin Initiative, an effort by law enforcement to crack down on the illicit drug.
Danielle Burke was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was also charged with petit larceny and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle as a result of open warrants from an unrelated incident.
She was released on $20,000 bond or $2,000 cash bail after her arraignment Tuesday.
Denise Burke, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny.
Back in 2013, Denise was arrested along with her teenage son for allegedly possessing heroin.
