Police say a woman pretending to be a customer held up a Starbucks on Old Country Road in Westbury Tuesday afternoon and put customers through a frightening ordeal as well.
Police say the woman approached the counter around 12:30 with a bag full of merchandise. According to witnesses, she began waving the bag around and claiming she had a gun. After employees had trouble opening the register, customers say she told them to get on the ground and ordered they hand over cash and jewelry.
Cops later caught up with the woman behind a North Fork bank in North Bellmore, where they say they found cash and a gun in her car. Police have not said whether or not the gun was real. The suspect was taken to Nassau University Medical Center after complaining she felt ill.
