Authorities say a man died after he was shot, then got into a vehicle and crashed into a home in Hempstead.
Police say it just before 11 p.m. Friday. The unidentified 30-year-old man was shot at least once in front of a home on Chase Street.
The man then got into a Chevrolet Traverse and drove for about half a mile. He hit a parked car, and then crashed into a home on Rose Street.
The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No one inside the Rose Street home was injured, although officials say the structure was damaged.
Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
Earlier this week, another man was shot dead while driving in Hempstead. The driver in that case crashed into bleachers on a middle school field, injuring three children.
