A New Cassel pregnant mother of seven is facing child endangerment charges after police say they found two of her children walking barefoot in feces and broken glass inside her apartment.
Police say they thought they were responding to a disturbance call at Ana Mendoza?s home on Broadway. However, they say Mendoza had called to report her wallet was missing. Authorities say when officers arrived at the home around 10:30 a.m. Monday, the pregnant woman smelled of alcohol. She later admitted to drinking eight beers, according to police.
Authorities also say the woman?s twin 2-year-old daughters were walking around partially clothed and barefoot in an apartment filled with feces, broken glass and dirty diapers.
Mendoza was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and is being held on $500 bail. Mendoza's daughters are staying with her sister. There is no word on where Mendoza?s other children are.
Police say they later found Mendoza?s wallet next to her bed.
