Police say a 15-month-old girl was killed in a horrific accident in Farmingville yesterday, leading to charges for her grandmother. The incident happened at County Road 83 and Granny Road. According to authorities, the girl's grandmother, 50-year-old Corenthea Skipwith, of Mastic, lost control of the SUV and it rolled into the median.Police say the toddler, Terrayjah Burwell, was thrown from the SUV because she may not have been properly strapped in by her mother, who was also in the vehicle. Skipwith was issued summonses for driving without a license and with a suspended registration. Neighbors say accidents on that stretch of the road are commonplace, and they want red light cameras to be installed in hopes of making drivers slow down.
